Throwback Thursday - The Mannies Incorporated Books

Waaaay back in 2012 (okay, so not that far back, but wow, 2012 is four years ago now, how time flies). Anyway. My point is that I started this story with a manny and an uncle and when I was done, I knew I wanted to do more stories featuring mannies and the end of the book sort of lent itself to that anyway and lo and behold the Mannies Incorporated series was born.

There has been a book in the series every December since 2012, for a total of four so far, along with one short story that's a follow-up on And Manny Makes Seven. All the books are once again available at both All Romance Ebooks and Amazon! And best of all, they now all have matching covers and sport the fantastic new logo that I absolutely love.(Thank you to Kris Norris for the awesome logo and covers.)

I'll have to ponder smutty excerpts for Saturday!

Slayde's got the best job on earth: he's a nanny to Army nurse and widow Mindy's three kids. He's been with the family since the oldest was born and is Uncle Slayde to all three children. When Mindy's deployed, things aren't easy, but he manages just fine. At least he does until Mindy's big brother Drake shows up unexpectedly, announcing he's there to help while Mindy is gone.

Drake is almost a stranger to the kids, hot as hell, especially in his motorcycling leathers, and straighter than straight. On top of that, Drake's not used to dealing with kids, or with things like gluten free, recycling and not eating fast food and soon has Slayde's tight routine in shambles.

Slayde thinks Drake is far more of a hindrance than a help, at least at the start, but he tries to get along for Mindy's sake and eventually, having Drake around is easier than not. But what's he supposed to do when the straight, sexy leather wearing ex-cop makes a pass at him one night? Maybe there's more to Drake than Slayde assumed.

He's shocked, but grateful when a reading of the will determines that he's not only inherited her beloved shi tzus , but also the house, a generous trust for everyone's education, plus three million dollars, some of it earmarked for hiring a nanny.

Hutch has worked as a nanny since he was nineteen, when he took over the care of his neighbors children when both parents were killed in separate missions overseas. He's worked with several families since and feels confident he can handle five children aged four through seventeen.

Hutch's arrival is just what Adam needs and as Hutch begins to turn the big house from Helena's place into their home, Adam and his siblings begin to see Hutch as more than just the nanny.

Single father Jack Jones is in dire need of a new nanny. His five year old son Nathan is legally blind, he has twin baby girls arriving in less than two months and the girl currently working for him is leaving at Thanksgiving to go home and continue her higher education. If Mannies Incorporated doesn’t come up with a viable candidate soon, he’s not sure what he’s going to do.

Dan Miller is on the hunt for a new job. He’s had some great placements with Mannies Incorporated, many as Manny to multiple birth families to get them over the hump. He even has experience with special needs children, so the job he’s interviewing for looks like it’s right up his alley.

When Dan arrives at Jack’s house, he discovers that this Jack Jones is his Jack Jones, the man he was in love with during college, and who broke up with Dan because Dan wanted children. Will Dan and Jack be able to put the past behind them and work with each other, or will their past keep them from having a future together?

Movie Tuesday

Saw a couple movies on Blu-Ray this past weekend - Hitman: Agent 47 and Terminator: Genesys

I expected Agent 47 to be a shoot-em up action movie and it was. There was a bit of a story there, though, and I found both Agents 47 and 99 to be interesting characters. The acting was very well done and it imbued the story with more than it might have otherwise had. It is basically mindless entertainment, though, so don't go looking for more than that if you watch it.

Now for Terminator: Genesys. I have to preface this with a note that I love the Terminator franchise and everything to do with it. I have loved all the movies, I have loved the TV show. It totally hits me in my time-travel paradox sweet spot. I love the stuff that explores time travel and how making changes in the past can affect the future and all the good stuff.

I knew nothing about this movie, aside from the fact that Arnold Schwartzeneggar was in it, which is how I like things. I was also under the impression that it hadn't fared that well in the theatres so I wasn't expecting too much.

I loved it! It has all the things I love about the Terminator movies. I loved seeing this from Kyle's view instead of Sara's. I loved how sending people back changed the future and because the first Terminator was sent back, more followed, some even earlier, so that this time around, Sara is a badass when Kyle first meets her.

I loved "Pops". I loved how.. terminator-like he was. There were a ton of laughs, a lot of action, and a lot of great mind-bending time-travel paradoxy stuff. I totally enjoyed it.

One of my favorite things? How different technology was from 1984 and 2017. We lived through that transition, but Sara and Kyle jumped into it with no reference point. Very cool.

So I recommend both, but I recommend the Terminator movie more than the Hitman one.

Horseplay now out!

My latest self-published title is a reprint from the Animal Attraction anthology from way back in 2007. It's a short story called Horseplay.

Psychiatrist Dr. Byron Hamilton has been bringing one of his young patients to ride the therapy horses at Micah Orion’s stables for nearly a year. Week after week, the two men eye each other, but never exchange more than pleasantries.

It’s Micah who finally takes the bull by the horns and approaches Byron, making the good doctor an offer he doesn’t want to refuse. It might have taken the men a year to get to their first date, but they seem intent on making up for lost time.

smutty excerpt:

“So, until tonight then?” Micah said.

Dr. Hamilton looked over at him, then at the heavy gold watch. “I deserve a fifteen-minute break, I think. You still interested in sealing the deal?”

Micah’s blood started flowing faster. “I am, Byron.” He did like the way the man’s name tasted on his tongue, would Byron’s mouth taste as good?

“Well, then. I suggest taking the bull by the horns, so to speak.”

Micah’s eyebrows rose. For a man who’d never said anything for a year, Byron was pretty eager. Maybe the man hadn’t realized they both swung the same way -- not everyone read signals. He stepped forward and took Byron’s face in his hands, tilting it slightly, and brought their mouths together.

Byron’s lips were soft, warm, the kiss gentle and tentative, almost chaste. Hardly the kind of kiss to seal a deal on. Micah pressed harder against Byron’s lips, his tongue sliding along the place where they met, asking to be allowed in. The moan that pushed into his lips was heated, rough, a complete surprise from the retiring, gentle man. Those lips parted, the doctor letting him in, letting him taste.

One hand sliding down to touch Byron’s neck, to feel the rapid tattoo of Byron’s pulse, Micah deepened the kiss. Once allowed in, his tongue swept through Byron’s mouth, exploring the white, even teeth, playing with Byron’s tongue, teasing it into response.

It was like a dam breaking, the way Byron pushed close, joined into the kiss with a need that had Micah’s toes curling, his belly tight as a board. His mouth filled with Byron’s flavor: cinnamon and nutmeg with cloves, spicy and sweet at the same time.

He made no move to end it, his tongue playing with Byron’s, his fingers stroking the warm neck, his body growing tighter, needier the longer it went on. He couldn’t remember the last time a kiss had made him lose his head like this. Of course, he’d been looking for months now: waiting, wanting to see that controlled son of a bitch spread out on his sheets, bent over a saddle, hands and knees on the hay.

Groaning, Micah tilted Byron’s head further back, tongue pushing deeper, lower body pressing closer. Oh, fuck. That pretty cock was right there, hard and hot in those thin-as-shit slacks. He started rubbing, going way farther than he’d ever intended this kiss to go, but his body was leading him, pulling him along, and Byron wasn’t doing anything to slow him down. No sir.

“Boss? You want me to saddle Charger up for... Oh.”

Goddamn it.

Movie Tuesday

So over the holidays I saw movies from three different "franchises". Two in the theatre and one on Blu-Ray. There will be spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens in this post so if you haven't seen it yet and don't want to know, do not read.

So first, just before Christmas, I saw the new Bond movie. And I just had to look up the name of it, which tells you what kind of an impact it had on me... the problem with the Bond films of late, for me, is that they're serious and dark and it's all very dark and dreary. There's none of that campiness, the odd double entendre of the old ones. Do I think it needed to 'grow with the times'? Sure. But I think it totally divested itself of the charm that the franchise originally had. I found it long, unexciting, predictable and it confirmed that I no longer enjoy the Bond films.

I'm going to jump to last weekend when I saw Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation. Now they've always suffered, again in my opinion, from taking themselves too seriously. Though I've enjoyed the additions of Jeremy Renner and Simon Pegg, and I've found that they have picked up the humorous touches that the Bond films have lost. So this one was enjoyable. Hopefully now that they've dealt with the "disbanding the IMF altogether" thing, they can concentrate in future on the intrigue.

Lastly, there was Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I was trying very hard not to anticipate this one too much, because I didn't want it to not live up to my expectations.

You see, I can remember sitting down in the theatre the summer of '77 and watching the movie with my family. I can remember being blown away and waiting eagerly for the next one and then the next. I am a Star Wars Fan with that capital letter. So I wanted this one to be good.

And this one was indeed good. I was in the new 'dbox' rumble seats. I liked these for how much room I had. And I liked the feeling of flying whenever they panned. However, I wasn't that into the rumbling and jerking around during the fight scenes and stuff - I found it distracting more than anything else. Plus at an extra $7 on top of the more expensive IMAX costs, I didn't think they were worth it (for me).

Chair aside, I loved seeing Han and Chewie back. I loved Rea, the new girl. And BB8 is adorable. It was totally an over the top enjoyable movie.

My big beef. They killed Han. I was not happy about that one. He's still one of my favorite characters and he and Chewie really helped make this movie.

I also found Han's son Ben less than effective as a bad guy. Once that facemask came off, he totally was a whiny kid more than a big bad guy. Also, and maybe it was because we didn't get a real background for him, I didn't get why he'd turned to the dark side. Anakin at least had all that anger from losing his mother and he grew up as a slave and stuff and Sidious was grooming and encouraging his anger. Ben had two parents who loved him, an uncle who was teaching him to use his powers. I think there needs to be more backstory.

Those are little quibbles, though. I really did like the movie a lot. I've got theories about Rea (I think she's Luke's daughter -- and I really don't want to know if I'm right or not, I like going into these movies totally unspoiled.)

Oh, interesting side note. I thought Finn really suffered in this movie. Not that the kid wasn't a great actor, but he just didn't have the presence the rest of the characters did. The girl who played Rae was fantastic, and Harrison Ford with his growly voice has this presence and gravitas he brings to the role of Han that Fin was missing.

Anyway. I could probably go on and on, because I am a Star Wars Fan and I'm thrilled to see the franchise continuing and I'm pleased with how its continuing (for the most part, still not entirely happy Han had to die, though I get from a storytelling point of view why it had to be done.)

So yay Star Wars!

My God It's Monday - RIP David Bowie

Well, I was going to write about how I can't believe it's Monday again already and I can't believe that it's been over a week since I last posted, but then I found out that David Bowie died of cancer yesterday and I thought instead of all that, I'd just talk about the chameleon himself.

When Robin Williams died last year, that really hit me hard. Especially that someone who made so many people laugh was so desperately unhappy. This one is hitting me hard as well, because David Bowie was one of my favorite musicians ever.

There wasn't a lot of music in our house aside from classical and folk music when I was growing up. Then there was the top forty on the radio as I hit my teens. Then I heard Modern Love, and Let's Dance and China Girl and Cat People and  I was hooked on Bowie. Totally hooked. I'd cruise the second hand record shops to find old albums (remember those? Vinyl?) Anyway. I picked up his earlier albums and fell in love with Heroes and Suffragette City, with Space Oddity and Starman. Rebel Rebel, Changes, Golden Years, Jean Jennie, Diamond Dogs, Oh! You Pretty Young Things,Absolute Beginners, Fashion, Rock 'n Roll Suicide, I could go on and on.

I've only been to a handful of concerts in my time, but one was the Glass Spider Tour. I saw him on that tour at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal. I lined up at six am to get tickets that only went on sale at ten am. Despite my lining up I still had nosebleed seats and you know what? I didn't care. I was there, watching Bowie sing the songs I loved. I still have the T-shirt I got that that tour. It's worn incredibly thin and I still occasionally wear it because it's soft as anything.

Bowie was strange and different, a gender bender, an alien himself. His lyrics told me stories and I loved the words as well as the tunes. They opened whole new worlds for me. When one of his songs comes on he radio or on my iTunes, I still stop and sing along.

Rest in peace, David Bowie. You are one of my heroes, for more than just a day, and you will live on in your songs and the hearts of myself and all the people you touched with them.

Suddenly Sunday

The first Sunday of 2016! And it's a beautiful day. Not too cold, woke up to a beautiful world covered in snow and it's still falling. When there's snow like this, there's this lovely hush that falls over everything. Especially in the morning before there's lots of traffic and stuff. Anyway. Just one of the reasons why I love winter.

It's been a fairly quiet week. I have done some work, but a lot less than usual. Of course this means that come tomorrow I'll be in massive catch up mode, but that's okay. I'm feeling like I got some time off.

There's a bunch of new television shows starting, which I'm looking forward to. It's always fun to have that potential just sitting there. Especially for the sci-fi and fantasy ones - those are my favorite. Hell, I like TV.

I haven't made any resolutions this year, except to be more positive. And I'd like to either FB or tweet something positive everyday, something I'm grateful for. I think I've crowed about the snow and winter over the last couple of days so that works. I would like to be in the habit, though of actually typing in 'today I am grateful for'. Even if it's the same thing each day.

It might be a movie day today. I have a bunch on Blu-Ray that I haven't seen yet and I'm feeling nice and lazy on this last day before jumping back into the routine.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Smutterday - Three to Get Ready

I meant to do a Smutterday excerpt for this one ages ago, but things just got so busy with the holidays and a blog tour and smutty advent and it just didn't happen. But it makes for a great first Smutterday of the year post.

Three To Get Ready, a Mannies Incorporated Novel

Will Dan and Jack be able to put the past behind them and work with each other, or will their past keep them from having a future together?

smutty excerpt:

“You wanna lie on the bed so I can explore?” Dan wanted to look and touch and taste.

“You’re sure?”

He took Jack’s hand and brought it to his own groin. He wasn’t completely hard yet, but he was getting there. “I am.”

Jack’s fingers rubbed his package, dragging along his shaft. Dan groaned, his cock hardening beneath Jack’s touch.

“I have you at a disadvantage,” he noted regarding his own lack of nakedness.

“I’m just glad you’re not running scared.”

“Are you kidding? Scars are sexy, right? And this one…” He touched the scar on Jack’s penis. “It’s unique. Hot.”

Jack gasped, eyes rolling back in his head.

Humming, Dan leaned in and kissed the scar, traced it with his tongue as it lengthened.

“Dan!” Jack shoved his knuckles between his lips.

“Shh. Shh.” He realized it had probably been longer for Jack since he got off with another warm body than it had been for Dan himself. Being a single parent of a young kid made for lousy dating opportunities.

“Sorry. Sorry, I… I didn’t expect…” Jack’s words faded.

“For me to not mind? Or the touch?”

“Yes. All of it. I try not to be too sexual,” Jack admitted.

“You’re making an exception because it’s Christmas?” He kissed the scar again.

“I’m making an exception because it’s you.”

“Ah. Good.” Dan leaned in and rubbed his cheek against Jack’s cock. He knew Jack might blow quickly, but any of the three kids could wake up without notice and he wanted to make sure Jack got to come.

“I…” One warm hand landed like a weight on his shoulder.

He kept nuzzling, breathing Jack in. He knew this scent, could already taste Jack on his tongue. Jack’s prick was full, a drop of precome glistening at the tip. He drew back to lap at the drop, taking it into himself. The flavor exploded on his tongue. Oh damn, he loved that taste.

“Dan. Please.”

He nodded, opening to take Jack’s cock in. It spread his lips, and he sucked gently at the head. Jack watched him with fevered eyes, with pure need. He pulled in a little deeper, tongue working Jack’s flesh.

“Dan. Dan, babe… I mean, please.”

Dan loved the desperation in Jack’s voice.

He slid his hands around Jack’s hips to grab hold of the sweet butt cheeks. Opening his mouth wide, he encouraged Jack to move. Jack leaned back, pushed up into his caress, into his waiting lips.

He put on the suction, tongue dragging over Jack’s flesh, trying to see if he could tell where the scar was. It was there, thin and barely noticeable. He teased it for a moment, but then he became distracted by the glide of the smooth, hot flesh in his mouth. Humming, he squeezed Jack’s butt, digging his fingers in.

Jack made the best noises, low and husky. He thought they could become an addiction. Pulling even harder, he encouraged Jack to just go for it. He wanted to make sure Jack got his orgasm in.

“I… I’m… I’m close, Dan.”

Smutty Advent - final post until next year

So Dick had spent New Year's Eve watching balls. Not the one that dropped in New York City, but the ones that slapped against bubble butts and hung around the base of amazing cocks. Yeah, his kind were far superior to the balls you saw on TV. And they belonged to the two hottest guys on earth, too.

And here they were, New Year's Day and while he and Rig certainly had tender asses, no one was hung over.

Who needed booze to ring in the new year when they had each other?

***

Rook popped his head up, grinning as he realized he was pretty much near the bottom of a pile of arms and legs and other much more interesting body parts.

They said to start out the year how you wanted it to continue, so he was exactly where he wanted to be and if it was true, well 2016 was going to be his year.

Happiest of 2016s to you all!
