Please share a small smutty excerpt of Found Vampire.

“He bit me.”

Brantley turned to look at Mal, raising a brow at him. “Yeah? You want another round of bacon?”

Mal scowled. “Did you hear me?”

“Uh-huh. There’s milk, too.”

“Brantley, a vampire bit me, and I let him.”

The big asshole grabbed a pound of bacon and dumped it in a pan. “The corn-holing comes next, you know.”

Mal’s jaw dropped open. “What?”

“Butt-fucking,” Brant deadpanned. “Ass-banditry.”

“I’m going to kill you. You know that, right?”

“Fudge-packing? Hole-humping? Hiding the salami? Punching the starfish? Buggery?”

“Stop it!” Mal flapped his hands. “Ew! Jesus, Brantley. What do I do?” He’d wanted to play around with guys, but really, what chance had he ever had to do more than hand and maybe mouth stuff?

“Enjoy the ride.” When he squawked, Brantley waved a spatula at him. “What? You’re bonded. Paul says so. If you try to leave him, your wolf will bring you right back.”

“I have a life!”

“And I didn’t?” Brantley bared his teeth a little. “What do you want from me, man? It was hard as hell, but so worth it. So fucking worth it.”

“I don’t—” Panic set in a bit, his chest tight. It was one thing to fuck around, another to be bonded like Brant and unable to leave. “I’m not. Shit.”

“Sit. So don’t. I mean, maybe, it’s different for you two. How the fuck would I know?”

“Different. Tell me how it is for you?” He sat. He’d teased Brantley a lot but had never really listened about bonds and shit. Not really.

“It’s like…” Brantley frowned, chewed his lip. “At first, it was like being in a dream all the time, like I couldn’t focus. Now, it’s more like being so focused that everything is bigger.”

Wow. That sounded all esoteric and not at all helpful. “Can you be more specific?”

“What do you want to know?”

“How do you? I mean, you were all about playing the field.” Was that enough to go on?

“I was, but I need him.” Brantley’s cheeks were on fire, but he didn’t look ashamed. “I want it. He doesn’t have to force me.”

“Does it… When he bites you?” Mal cleared his throat. Fuck, he was an adult, and god knew, he’d done his share of play-by-play with the guys about women. “Does it make you come?”

“Fuck, yes. Over and over. I… Okay, this is just between you, me and the bedpost, but…I let him bite me down there.”

Mal’s eyes went wide, and he stared. “No shit?”

“Uh-huh. It’s… I’ve got no words.”

When he looked down, Mal realized he’d instinctively covered his crotch with his hands. “Ow.”

“Yeah. I don’t know what to tell you.”

Paul leaned against the doorframe. “Tell him about what, dabi?”

“Nothing,” Brant said easily. “Wolf bullshit.”

“Mmm. So you say. Good day, Mal.”

“Hey.” Mal always felt odd around the manu.

He had the sneaking suspicion Paul was doing something he couldn’t see or hear too, because Brantley’s cheeks were purple.

Found Vampire

Found Vampire is the sequel to Chosen Wolf. Brant's best friend Mal is on his way home from Paul and Brant's cabin, having snowmobiled up to see his friend. On the return trip, hears someone calling him, which is impossible over the motor noise. Impossible, but he finds the man calling to him, a nearly frozen vampire Mal can hear talking in his head.

Henri is an Acadian vampire who hears voices in his head. He knows he's crazy, but has no idea that bonding with a Guardian werewolf will help him, even as he forms a connection with Mal.

Both of them have reasons to fight the bond in the short term, but when it comes down to it, only Mal's discipline will save Henri from the voices, and from himself.

Smutty Advent - Day 19

Wow, December 19 already - this month is just determined to march along as quickly as the rest of the year has!

Today's contest is for an ebook copy of Window Dressing. As always, leave a comment on this post for a chance to be entered to win.

Window Dressing is set in Ottawa, and the outside of the house is based off one I often pass when headed downtown and I've always loved it and wondered what the inside looked like - with this book, I have roomed and furnished it from my imagination - it's how I would like the insides of it to look.

Window Dressing

Will Finn and Jared recapture what they lost in time for Christmas?

Finnegan Gables moved away six years ago, leaving behind his friends, the city he grew up in, and his lover, Jared McNaughtly. They weren’t ready for a commitment then, but now Finn’s back and hoping to rekindle their Dom and sub relationship…if he can find Jared, that is.

Jared’s not had an easy time of it since Finn left. His one attempt at staying in the lifestyle resulted in a stalker, forcing him to change all his contact information and move to a new apartment. He’s disillusioned enough to have left the lifestyle altogether.

A chance crossing of their paths bring them together the week before Christmas. Can they move past their separation and everything that’s happened in the last six years to find a Merry Christmas together?

Originally released with another publisher.

Excerpt:

Moaning, Finn deepened the kiss, pushing into his mouth and tasting him thoroughly. The big body pressed against him, Finn hotter than the fire. Jared moaned, too, rediscovering the places they’d fit, once upon a time.

One of Finn’s hands slid down his spine, fingers slow and lingering. Jared shivered, scooted closer as he tried to get more contact. Finn slid his hand down farther, grabbing Jared’s ass and pulling him in tighter, giving him what he wanted—what he needed. A low moan pushed into his mouth, and he could feel the heat of Finn’s eager package against him. He was not alone in his need.

“Tell me this isn’t a bad idea,” Jared begged.

“This is the best idea we could have, boy. We still make fireworks together.”

“Fireworks at Christmas?”

Finn smiled, nodded. “Exactly.”

Finn lifted him, and he wrapped his legs around Finn’s waist. Laughing, Finn carried him easily to the huge chair in front of the fire. Jared knew suddenly that this was where Finn sat a lot, to relax, in his private time. He could picture the man there, in front of the fire.

Finn nipped at his bottom lip, the sharp sting getting his full attention.

“I’m with you!” The words came back so easily.

Finn laughed and kissed him hard. “Good, because for what I’ve got planned, you need to be.”

The wicked words made his belly clench, made him cry out with arousal.

Finn began to undress him, fingers pulling the buttons open on his shirt. The low groan Finn let out as his skin was exposed was gratifying. His head fell back, lips parting on a gasp. Taking advantage, Finn pressed a kiss to the hollow of his throat, lips warm. The tongue that followed the same path was blazing hot. The touch made him arch, made him cry out, the sound surprising him

“God, you’re starving,” Finn murmured against his skin.

“Been a long time.” Too long. He could admit he was starving for sex.

“Drought’s over, baby.” There was a promise in those words.

“Baby.” No one had called him baby or boy in years.

“I’m trying not to be presumptuous, Jared, but it’s like you waited for me.” Finn peppered his words with hot, sucking kisses across Jared’s neck.

“I just... no one did it for me.” Shut up, Jared.

“Except for me.” Finn gave him a shit-eating grin and then kissed him on the lips, hard enough his lips mashed against his teeth.

He groaned deep in his chest, legs squeezing Finn tight. Finn’s hands grabbed his ass, fingers digging in.

“We should sit down before we fall down,” Jared suggested.

Finn sat down heavily in the chair. “Whatever you want, baby.”

“You.” He wanted Finn.

“Yeah, you got me.” Finn kissed him again, bending him backward as the kiss deepened.

His prick pressed against Finn, his belly tight. Finn tugged him closer, rolling their bodies together. Even through the multiple layers, he could feel the heat of their bodies rubbing. His balls drew up, his body aching like he was a teenager. Finn went back to undressing him, undoing the rest of his buttons and tugging his shirt out of his jeans.

“Couldn’t believe it was you.” Finn’s words burned against his skin. “Right there, like you were waiting for me to walk by and find you.”

“I wasn’t even watching outside,” Jared admitted.

“No?” Finn licked around his navel, fingers teasing the waistband of his jeans, slipping beneath it but not undoing the top button yet.

He sucked in, knowing his muscles rippled. He worked hard for this body. He swore he could feel Finn’s groan along the skin of his belly.

“You always were the sexiest man I’ve ever known.”

Jared hoped so. “Good.”

He felt Finn’s smile. Then Finn unbent to kiss him, fingers working open his jeans’ button now and tugging at the zipper. His cock—pierced at the tip with a heavy ring, his only body mod—pushed out, eager to reintroduce itself to Finn.

Smutty Advent - Day 18

It's here! The new holiday Hammer story is now available at Amazon and Kobo!

So I was planning my cookie baking a while ago and the Hammer dudes looked over my shoulder and said, hey, what if we did a cookie exchange among the subs? And I was like, uh... and Jim and Jack were like too late, it's in your brain, you are writing it. So I did. Markus just rolled his eyes and spanked Jim.

Cookie Exchange
A Hammer Holiday Story

It’s the holiday season and the men of the Hammer Club are in the mood to celebrate.

Jack has decided he wants to do a cookie exchange with his fellow subs this year. The only catch is that he and Master Oliver go on vacation right after he sets it up. Jim seems like the perfect person to take over the reins. What could possibly go wrong?

Join Jim and Markus and their friends as they do Christmas the way only they can.

Smutty Excerpt:

Markus bumped the thermostat to turn it up a touch, then climbed into the bed, and slid the crop along the back of Jim’s legs. Jim’s fingers clenched, digging into that reddened ass.

“I’m going to make your hole just as fiery as your ass and then I’m going to take you.” He rubbed the crop against Jim’s hole.

Jim whimpered, shook his head, but his boy’s cock dripped with eagerness.

“I’ve got you, baby. I’ll take care of all your needs.” He hit Jim’s hole with the crop, fairly gently.

The sweet ring of muscles tightened, clenching at the little slaps. He built slowly, moving from super gentle to stronger. He watched as Jim’s hole darkened. Soft cries filled the air, sweet as sugar, and he swatted a little harder. He would stop when Jim couldn’t take another swat, and not a moment sooner.

“Master!” Jim tried to pull away, but was caught by Markus’ will.

“I’m right here, baby. Right here.” He added a hard swat on Jim’s ass.

“No…” This time Jim did jerk forward.

“Yes. I know what you need, Jim. Trust me.” He gave Jim’s hole some more hits from the crop, watching attentively.

His boy began to tremble, and Markus imagined tears just beginning to dot the red eyelashes as he’d seen so often in the past.

“My amazing boy. You astound me every time. Always taking more than I would have guessed possible.” He placed a gentle kiss on Jim’s hole, signaling the end of the whipping.

“L-love you, Sir.”

“I love you too, Jim. You’re my heart.” He grabbed the lube and spread some on his fingers, then on Jim’s hole. He knew the contrast between the cool lube and Jim’s heated body would be huge.

As soon as the lube hit Jim’s hole, his boy bucked, almost climbing the wall.

Grabbing hold of Jim’s hips, Markus dragged him backward. “No escaping, boy. I will have you.”

“Please. Please. Anything.” His baby was hysterical, desperate.

Markus smacked Jim’s ass to focus his attention, then grabbed hold of his boy’s hips again and pulled Jim back as he thrust forward, slamming into the perfect sheath.

The heat was sudden and fierce, wild and perfect. And his boy was just as crazed, pushing back into his thrusts. He loved when they came together like this, when they worked together for their pleasure.

“Need this. You. So bad.” Jim took him eagerly, letting him ride his boy like a prize pony.

“Same.” He was whole because of Jim.

Smutty Advent - Day 17

Wicked Gift is from a few years ago - and it was so much fun to write. This one is M/M/M.

If you'd like to win an ebook copy of Wicked Gift, just leave a comment on this post.

Wicked Gift

Alec has the perfect gift for his lover Kono this year -- his best friend Swan.

Kono has a lot of fantasies about being a submissive, while Alec likes to watch and Swan is the best Dom he knows, so a week together fulfilling Kono's fantasies seems like just the ticket.

Of course, he hasn't taken into account that maybe there are stronger feelings at play here between all of them. Will these three men turn out to be exactly what they each need for Christmas this year?

Wicked Gift is a reprint – the publisher has changed.

Excerpt:

Prologue

"So, are you interested?" Alec looked at his oldest friend, oft-time fuckbuddy, and the best Dom he'd ever met. "I know Kono wants more than I can give him, and you know what I like." He liked to watch. A lot.

Swan gave him a long, considering look. "How intense are we talking here? A little light spanking or some deep submission?"

Alec's cock jerked. "We have a week off together, Swan. I want... I want to see his fantasies come true."

"Am I in charge?"

He looked Swan over, remembering when the buff blond had been a skinny little college kid, both of them experimenting. "Where do you see me fitting in?"

"What you do best -- you're watching." He got another look, this one smoldering. "I'll take you on, too, though."

"You might not be able to handle two at a time."

Swan chuckled. "We're not in college anymore, Alec. If I'm coming in on this, I'm the Dom. Full stop. We won't both be playing that role, and I'll be in charge."

Alec's cock was hard as nails, his heart pounding, but he fought to keep a straight face, a poker face. "Can you commit to a week?"

"I can."

"I want to do this for him." If he wanted to do it for himself, too, that was his own business.

"I do make a hell of a Christmas gift." Swan gave him a wink.

"Ho ho ho." Alec grinned back, going for suave, sophisticated, which, okay, not his strongest suit, but it wasn't an impossible stretch for a software engineer, right?

Swan laughed and held out his hand. "So we're on?"

Alec shook on it. "You'll be at the house Friday night?"

"I will. You want me to wear a ribbon around my prick?" Swan was teasing him. He thought.

He took the man at face value, just to be sure. "Nope. Leather. I'll order pizza."

"No home cooked meal from Kono?"

"I always order pizza on Fridays." He liked being able to give Kono a night off from cooking, and god knew, that wasn't going to be because of his own culinary skills. He was a lucky man to have found someone who loved him who was also a damn good cook.

"All right then. I'm looking forward to some good meals and better service, though. Just to let you know." Swan smiled, the look predatory. Hot.

"You know I don't cook. Kono's food is stunning, which if you'd come over to the house more often, you'd know." So maybe his gift to Kono was a little bit selfish; he missed his best friend. They saw each other every few months, but more often he and Kono would meet Swan at a play or a restaurant or something like that, not at the house.

Swan just looked at him. "I usually stay away from temptation. Especially when it belongs to a good friend."

"Kono is temptation itself, huh?" His lover was a lovely man, dark-skinned, long-haired, trim and fine.

"He is. Of course his lover's not so bad either." Swan's gaze swept up and down his body.

Alec snorted, flexed, playing. "Geek chic."

Swan laughed. "It's the glasses that do it to me, baby."

He flipped Swan off, knowing that Alec wasn't his type, not really. They liked to fuck; they'd done it a lot in college, but the man was a Dom. He liked beautiful, submissive men.

Swan leaned on the bar and pushed Alec's glasses up a bit. "Don't sell yourself short, Alec."

"I don't. You want another beer?"

Swan went with the change of subject. "Yeah, I want another beer, and I want details on what Kono's fantasies are."

Alec waved to the waitress, held up two fingers. Swan gave him a grin, heated anticipation in the bottle-green eyes.

"Perv." God, Swan was hot.

The man just laughed. "Look who's talking."

"Hey, I just like to watch."

"Exactly." Swan grabbed his beer which had just arrived and clinked glasses with him. "Exactly."

They grinned together, and Alec knew, no question, that Kono was going to have the best Christmas present.

Ever.

Smutty Advent - Day 16

I got all my rights to my Resplendence titles back a while ago and I've been saving the two Christmas stories for now.  So I'm so pleased to be able to offer you this one again.

Comfort and Joy is a sweet story about a cop who is missing his deployed husband during the holidays. Scroll down for a smutty excerpt!

If you'd like a chance to win an ebook copy of this story just comment on this post and I'll draw a winner next weekend (or thereabouts, which gives you until at least Saturday to enter.)

Comfort and Joy

Lawson Sanders has been forced to take some time off at Christmas as he’s been working through holidays and doing overtime on the job while his husband has been deployed. He finds it easier to ignore the loneliness if he’s busy. He’s filling the time with Charity work—wrapping presents, serving food, anything that will keep him busy this Christmas.

Steven Ford’s been working as an army field nurse overseas for the last two years. He’s gotten used to barking out orders and not being home. He’s just mustered out, though and is home to surprise his husband Lawson just in time for the holidays.

Just before Steven left, this Dom and sub officially got married, but they never got a honeymoon and now they need to rediscover how they fit together. Can Steven and Lawson regain what they’ve been missing for the last two years and reconnect for Christmas?

Excerpt:

Steven napped, then woke up around ten p.m., his body still eight plus hours ahead. He headed to the kitchen, started coffee, gave Ginger a treat, and then rummaged for food. He was fucking starving.

The fridge was mostly empty, but he did find bread and peanut butter, as well as bananas. PB&B sandwich it was.

There had to be an all-night grocery store close. He’d eat and then go buy supplies. Beef jerky. Chocolate. Beer. Steaks. A roast the size of his head. Cranberries. Cheerios. Man, he needed a list.

Out of the blue, Law came running in like the hounds of hell were after him, making Ginger bark.

“Oh.” Law drew up short and started at him. “You’re still here.”

“Uh-huh. I was hungry. Sandwich?” Steven wasn’t going to let either of them get stressed out. He got it, though.

“Uh...yeah, yeah. Sure.” Law sat and gave him a wry smile. “I woke up and you weren’t there. I thought maybe I’d dreamed the whole thing.” Law touched his arm, fingers lingering. “Pretty real dream.”

“Totally real in that utterly not a dream way.” Steven put the peanut butter knife down.

Law grinned. “Yeah. I guess I was a pretty good boy after all, what with Santa bringing you home for me for Christmas.”

“Yep. I am the best present ever.”

God, Law was stunning. Stacked and wide and so damn hot.

“You are.” The heat in Law’s eyes nearly burned him to a crisp, right there in his chair. “Did you eat? Are you ready to go back to bed?”

“I was making a sandwich. You distracted me.”

“How about we order a pizza from that all night joint. It’ll give us enough time for you to blow me before it comes.”

“Oh, ho! You think you deserve that?” Fact was, he’d happily agree to that.

“I sure do. I haven’t felt that mouth around me since the night we said, ‘I do.’” Law got up and grabbed the phone.

“I do love the taste of your prick, the way you scream.”

“Oh, you’re going to make me scream, are you?” Law watched him for a long moment, then made the call.

Steven bebopped over and hit his knees, fully intending to make this the hardest pizza order Law had ever done.

Law’s eyes went wide, but he didn’t back up, didn’t make any move to stop Steven.

“Do it,” Law ordered. “What? Oh, no hello. Delivery, please.”

Steven took Law in in one fell swoop, sucking fast and hard, giving his lover no quarter.

“Fuck!” Law stared at him. “No. No, sorry. Something on the uh, TV.”

Steven chuckled and rolled Law’s balls in his hand. Law whimpered, then cleared his throat. Several times.

“Yeah, yeah, I’d like a... a...” Law’s free hand landed on Steven’s head, fingers digging into his scalp.

Oh, hell yeah. Steven swallowed around the tip, moaning loud enough that Law had to feel it. A shudder went through his stud and the hold on his head tightened. He glanced up, finding Law’s grip on the phone white—knuckled.

“Meat lovers. Large. Mountain Dew. And uh...” Law’s eyes closed.

Smutty Advent - Day 10

This one follows directly on Christmas Auction - following Gil and Xan post-auction.

For a chance to win a copy of the book - leave a comment!

New

For three years in a row Gil has bought Xan at the Hammer's Christmas Charity Auction. The first two years, they parted ways after their one night of play. This year Gil asked Xan to stay.

Xan wants nothing more than to trust that the third time's the charm, that this time Gil is free and clear, and able to become his Master. The thing is, he's having a little trouble trusting that Gil's sudden desire to keep him is real and is going to last.

Can they make a fresh start for themselves? Or will Xan's doubts sink them before they've even really begun?

Excerpt:

Trying to catch his breath, Gil smiled at his new boy, the words "Yes, Master," still ringing in his ears.
Xan was beautiful. Shaved all over, and the lack of hair allowed the tattoos and multiple peircings stand out, let them shine. The man's torso was covered in spiky black ink -- the patterns were fascinating, one flowing into the next and the next, leaving only that glowing ass bare. Add that to the double rings in each nipple, the genital piercings -- Xan was stunning.

And his.

Three years in a row he'd bid on Alexander at the Hammer Charity Auction. The first two times had been that one night only. Hell, the first year he'd been with someone, though they weren't exclusive.

This time, though, the third time, they'd gotten it right.

Xan was going to stay because Xan was his.

"I'm going to make love to you now." He'd worked Xan over, plugged him, put a cock ring on him, set weights on his piercings. Now it was time to take the beautiful ass and make it his.

"Yes, Sir. Please." No. Not Sir. Xan called any Top Sir. Gil had never heard 'Master' from those lips until tonight.

"That's not what you call me." There'd be no making love until Xan got it right.

"What do you want to be called?" Always pushing. Always.

"You know very well what I expect you to call me, boy." He was in for a wild ride, he could tell; he hadn't had a challenge like this in... maybe ever.

Xan moaned, the long body rippling beneath him. "I've never called anyone that before." No, and Xan never would call anyone else Master again.

"That's because it's what you call me. No one else, no one ever. Just me."

"Yes. Yes, Master." Xan shivered, the arousal and need and happiness in those eyes fascinating.

"Good boy." He brought their mouths together, rewarding Xan with a kiss.

Xan pushed into the kiss, trying to take control, needing him. He grabbed Xan's ass, squeezing it as he pushed back; this was his kiss, Xan was his boy. His boy who needed like no one else.

He ran his hand along Xan's back, feeling the heat and welts from his earlier beating. Xan gasped, twisted and groaned for him, whimpering into the kiss. He slid one hand down to grab the base of the plug inside Xan and twisted it. His boy jerked, pulled away from him.

He tugged Xan back up against his body. "We're not done here yet."

"I just... wow."

"Get used to it." He watched Xan's eyes as he twisted the plug some more.

"What if I can't?"

"Then it's going to be very interesting for a very long time."

Those ice blue eyes flared for him, lit from within. "I can handle interesting."

"Yeah, so can I, boy."

The challenge was coming, he could feel it. "Can you handle me?"

"If I couldn't, we wouldn't be here right now."

"You're not with anyone else now, right?"

He growled. "I would have never asked you to stay if I was. And you'd better not accept if you aren't free and clear." He wasn't the type to share.

"Don't snarl at me! I haven't been with anyone but you in a year!"

"Good." He wouldn't be ashamed of wanting his boy to be exclusive.

Xan stopped, staring at him. "Good?"

"I'm glad there hasn't been anyone else."

"I wanted you."

"And now you've got me."

"I." Xan looked at him. "I have no idea of what to do now."

"You don't have to." That was his job now.

He cupped Xan's face and brought him in for another kiss. That clever, hungry mouth was worth a thousand troubles. He rubbed his prick against Xan's belly, groaning into that sweet mouth. Xan's fingers traced along his belly, down toward his cock.

He bit Xan's lower lip. "I didn't say you could touch."

"You didn't say I couldn't."

"You're going to keep me on my toes, aren't you?"

"Yes, S...Master."

Smutty Advent - Day 9

Nine years ago, I wrote Christmas Auction, the first of the Hammer Christmas stories. There are seven of them altogether, but this is the one that started it all. And it's now available on Kobo as well as Amazon!

Leave a comment on this post for a chance to win an ebook copy of Christmas Auction. And see below for an excerpt.

Christmas Auction

Christmas at the Hammer Club means charity auction time. This year Marcus has been roped into emcee duty and everyone has pitched in, offering time, abilities and themselves.

This is Alexander's third year giving away six hours of hard play, but it's also his last as he's headed to the east coast. He's hoping to catch the eye of the Dom who's won him at the auction the last two years running. He can't help wishing it was more than just a one night thing.

Also up for grabs is Jeremy, who'd planned to offer some free iron work, but Simon's changed things up and he suddenly finds himself on offer for the whole night to the highest bidder. Who's it going to be? Jeremy has to trust his Master has his best interests at heart.

Join the men of the Hammer for this Christmas tale.

Excerpt:

The Saturday before Christmas at the Hammer brought with it, every year, their auction for charity. The place was always packed, the items up for bid always fetched a fair price, the proceeds from all food and booze consumed also went to charity and everyone always had a good time.

Marcus, however, was not always the emcee. In fact, this was his first time. Oliver had asked, and how could he say no?

He couldn't.

He stood in front of the mirror, frowning at the red velvet Santa hat on his head. He wasn't sure it didn't look... camp with his bald head. But he'd already refused the red velvet pantsuit, much to Oliver's chagrin. Instead, he wore black leather pants, a dark red shirt, and stompy leather boots. In the pantsuit he would have looked fruity; in what he was wearing he looked, well, toppy. Which suited him just fine.

"Baby? Does the hat work?"

Jim tilted his head. "Not really, but you should wear it just for the auction."

He took another look in the mirror and nodded. Taking the hat off, he put it on the doorknob; he'd put it back on when Xavier called on him to open the auction. Until then, he and Jim had one of the private rooms all to themselves; Xavier had even served them dinner before telling them with a wink that they had almost two hours before things were scheduled to begin.

"Now that that's settled, we just need to figure out what to do to fill the time before I'm needed onstage." He smiled at his baby; he had a few ideas.

Jim was wearing jeans and a long sleeved white T-shirt, long hair worn in a braid down the back. His baby was not completely comfortable with the thought of an auction -- as if any sub ever ended with anyone they didn't belong with. There had even been stories about couples who had met each other during the auction.

Besides, he'd been very clear on what was on offer with Jim -- coffee and brownies served by his baby. Full stop. And he might have asked Jack to bid for Jim on his behalf.

He moved to where Jim was stacking their empty plates and gave that sweet ass a gentle smack.

Those beautiful green eyes met his, wide and warm. "Master?"

"I was just testing out one of the things we could do before I'm needed onstage."

"You'll be wonderful." Jim stepped close, nose sliding on his jaw.

"Mmm." He slid his arm around Jim's waist and raised his head, just enough that Jim could nuzzle into his neck. Jim's lips were soft, heated where they were worshipping his skin. No one loved like his baby did. No one. His eyes closed for a moment and he simply reveled in the touches, the heat, and the scent of his baby.

Smutty Advent - Day 8

The Jarheads were requested and these boys are never too far in the back of the brain to come out and play occasionally.

Don't Ask, Don't Tell is the first book chronologically. But Three Day Passes was the first book that I wrote with them.

Rock rolled his eyes as the wrapping paper broke on the corner of the box. He taped down the long end, then put another piece of tape over the hole he'd put in the corner. He managed not to mangle the rest, though the sides weren't flush against the box. He couldn't figure out how Rig always managed to get his gifts perfectly wrapped. Especially the odd-shaped things. Even the kid's looked way better than his came out.

He got some red ribbon around the box and tied it in a bow, and fuck him if it wasn't incredibly lopsided. He tried to undo it, but he'd somehow put a knot in it and by the time he was done trying to fix it, the ribbon was a tattered mess. Growling, he picked the stupid thing up and nearly threw it across the room. He didn't, though, because then he'd have to go out and buy Rig's gift all over again. He did however grab the roll of paper and fold the whole thing in half.

"What did that wrapping paper do to you?" Dick asked as he came in the room.

Rock didn't say a word, he just help up the lopsided, sorry looking gift.

"Oh. You lost the battle," Dick noted.

"And I didn't even know I was at war."

Rock shook his head as Dick took two gifts out of the bag he was carrying and placed them under the tree. Two perfectly - or close enough - wrapped gifts.

"How the fuck do you do that?" he wanted to know, goddamnit.

Dick looked around. "Do what?"

"Wrap your fucking gifts so perfectly."

Dick leaned against the dining room table and grinned. "You want to know my secret?"

He just growled; he'd asked, hadn't he?

"Was that a yes growl or a go away growl?" Dick's eyes were dancing, the kid playing with fire.

He made to get up and Dick laughed, backing up, lookng like he was about to run. "Almost every mall I've ever been to has these places where they'll wrap the gifts for you for a small fee - for charity."

"You mean you don't wrap them yourself?"

"Are you kidding? If I did it would look worse than that mess you're about to put under the tree."

Well, he'd be damned. "So you cheat."

"It's wrapping gifts, not something you win or lose."

"You still owe me a blow job for not telling me about this."

"You never have to make an excuse to get a blow-job, Blue." Rig's voice came from the doorway, a grin on his face. "And I like the fact that you wrap your gifts yourself - I see those messy corners and lopsided bows and know you took the time to wrap it just for me."

He knew there was a reason he struggled through wrapping every time and that look on Rig's face right there was it. He smiled back, but all he said was, "Did you say blow job?"

Smutty Advent - Day 6

I love baking cookies and I baked new to me cookies today. They turned out so yummy, so I thought I'd share the recipe. I found it in a Taste of Home Cookies magazine but I searched and it is available online, too. The picture is my end result.

Now how does this relate to smut? Well, the gents from the Hammer might be having a cookie exchange this year and that short story may be coming to an online retailer near you soon ;)

Here's the recipe:

Double Butterscotch Cookies

Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
4 cups packed brown sugar
4 large eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
6 cups all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking soda
3 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon salt
1 package English toffee bits (10 ounces) or almond brickle chips (7-1/2 ounces) (I used skor bits)
1 cup finely chopped pecans

Directions
In a large bowl, beat the butter, shortening and brown sugar for 2 minutes or until mixture resembles wet sand. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt; gradually add to the brown sugar mixture and mix well. Stir in toffee bits and pecans.

Shape into three 14-in. rolls (mixture will be slightly crumbly); wrap each in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for 4 hours or until firm.

Unwrap and cut into 1/2-in. slices. Place 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets. Bake at 375° for 9-11 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool for 1-2 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely.

Fair warning - this does make 7 dozen cookies and also they are delicious, so eating very many of them is totally a possibility.

Smutty Advent - Day 5

Although this book isn't a Holiday book - it has just come out and I have a signed print copy to give away.

Just leave a comment on this post and you'll be entered.

Owned by Fate

Dr. Mike Beteferoce turned his back on magic long ago. His heart broke and his desire for a soul mate disappeared. When he sees his family crest branded above Corryn’s heart, his first instinct is to flee. The last thing he wants now is a Fae interfering in his life—especially one who has already rejected him.

But fate has other plans.

Corryn knows Mike is his soul mate, has known since the sigil was branded on his skin centuries ago. Long before Mike came to him as a studly young dragon just entering his prime. It was far too early for them to be together then, but now their time has come.

But despite their draw to each other, Corryn doesn’t believe Mike can accept him for who—and what—he is. Mike must breathe life into their bond—loving Corryn as both soul mate and Fae—if they are to fulfill their destiny.

Excerpt:

Micah got a shopping cart and started in the meat department, filling the cart with steaks and pork chops, roasts and chicken. Then he grabbed a bunch of frozen lobsters, more eggs than anyone could eat, Corryn was sure, and a ton of milk.

“Okay, what do you want that I haven’t grabbed yet?” Micah asked, looking for all that mattered like he was enjoying this trip through the grocery aisles.

“Tea. Coffee. Grapes.” He lived on those. And he was feeling good enough now they could take their time and pick up everything in the one trip.

“You and your eternal tea.” Micah headed down to the aisle that said coffee/tea/cookies. “I’ll let you choose the tea. I know my coffee. Should we get cookies?”

“Yes, please.” He loved sweet and crunchy and he was pretty sure Micah did, too. The dragons had a bit of a sweet tooth, to put it mildly.

“What’s your favorite?” Micah asked. “No. Wait.” Micah grabbed chocolate sandwich cookies, chocolate chip chunk and a bunch of shortbread in different shapes. “That good?”

“Yes.” How long were they going to be gone? He added boxes of Earl Grey, Irish Breakfast and peppermint tea, while Micah put in a half-dozen different kinds of coffee. “The candy aisle is the next one over.”

Suddenly they were laughing, acting like naughty children buying sweets. They kept one-upping each other until things were falling out of the cart. An old man glared at them, sending them into more laughter.

Oh, Corryn had wanted this for so long. This was bigger than sex. He’d wanted to become Micah’s friend.

Micah handed him an armful of sweet and tart candies in large bags. “I’ll feed you those later.”

“Yeah?” Corryn smiled up into his dragon’s eyes.

Micah froze, staring at him That gaze was warm, and it felt like everything right now. “Yes. After we fly.”

“Oh.” Flying with Micah would be a dream come true, one he’d never let himself hope for.

“You need anything else we should pick up now? Once I get you up there, it might be a while before I let you come back.” Micah pushed his hair back over his ear.

“I think we have enough.” He shivered, his nipples going tight.

Micah nodded his head slowly, gaze never leaving his. “We won’t starve.”

“We won’t.” Oh, he needed. He needed now. The ache in his balls was deeper than the one in his belly had been. Everything around them seemed to fade, and Micah was the only bright, colorful thing in all the world.

Micah looked around like he was trying to figure out if he could push Corryn up against the shelves and fuck him right there without disturbing anyone.

“We have to check out and go.” They could fuck in the car, right? Maybe? Corryn thought they were going to have to whether it was okay or not. The need was so strong.

“We do. And I imagine the one bathroom they have at the back for customers is pretty disgusting, so we need to find somewhere else private.” Micah definitely looked tempted by the thought of the locked door on the bathroom, though. Hell, Corryn felt tempted.

Finally, Micah grabbed the cart and began pushing it toward the front of the store, determination in every stride.

Corryn reached out, stroked Micah’s ass. Micah whirled around, eyes wide. Micah was so busy looking at Corryn, he nearly drove the cart into the cereal, but managed to get himself back together and veer off just in time.

“Tease,” Micah muttered as he pulled up to a cashier. He started piling their stuff onto the belt.

Every time Micah leaned over the cart to pick something up, it put his ass right in Corryn’s view. Every time he could, he touched, teasing his dragon. He didn’t care if anyone saw or if they disapproved. This was his dragon and he needed desperately.

By the time their order had been rung up and paid for, Micah was down to grunts and clicks, moving at a rapid pace. He had done that, had turned his strong, controlled dragon into a ball of need. Micah pushed the grocery-filled cart through the parking lot like a man possessed and he hit the fob, unlocking the door as soon as they were at the trunk.

Corryn helped unload, nudging and rubbing up against Micah as often as possible. Micah shivered and rubbed back before pushing the shopping cart back to the sidewalk in front of the strip mall. Then Micah grabbed his arm and dragged him back to the SUV.

“There’s a motel two blocks back.” Micah all but pushed him into the vehicle.

Book Day Wednesday

The 5th and final book of the Dragon Soul series is now out!

Mike and Corryn gave me some fits - they had the most complicated background of all the dragons and I was seriously pulling out my hair for some of it. But in the end, thy gave it up and gave me a great story - maybe the best of the entire series (but I don't pick favorites!)

Smutty Advent - Day 4

I have a new Christmas story coming out this December - the 21st to be specific.

If you leave a comment on this one, you'll be entered into the contest to win an ebook copy of this book.

A Tale of Two Spirits

Danny knows the bookstore he owns has a ghost haunting it, and for eight years they've lived in harmony. Three days before Christmas -- Danny's busiest time of year -- his ghost suddenly turns nasty, throwing books at him, knocking displays over, and deliberately hurting him.

Knowing he needs to deal with this quickly, Danny calls on the medium Denim to help him with his ghost problem. One spirit actually turns out to be two, one of whom isn't all happiness and light.

Can Denim banish the evil spirit haunting Danny's store and save Danny's Christmas? Danny sure hopes so, especially after he meets the handsome medium.

Excerpt:

Danny checked his watch. Five minutes past ten. It was time to close up. He scanned the store, confirming that there were no lingering customers, then locked the front door and turned the sign from “Open” to “Closed.” It had been a really busy day, and they’d been flat out until about nine when he’d finally sent Samantha home; it was going to be another busy day tomorrow. He both loved and hated the holiday season. He enjoyed decorating the store, and he loved helping customers find just the right book to gift someone with. But he was often run off his feet and usually worked from eight in the morning until ten every day for the two weeks leading up to Christmas.

There were only three days left until Christmas now and he was tired. He couldn’t wait to close the door at three on Christmas Eve and have a day and a half off. After Christmas were the sales, which was also busy, although less so in his little independent bookstore than at the bigger retailers. He’d also have to catch up on all his paperwork before the end of the year, so it would continue to be super busy until January.

A book dropped off the shelf in front of him as he made his way back to the counter to cash out. He sighed and picked it up, reshelving it. Another one landed on the floor in front of him.

“Stop that.” He picked up and reshelved that one, too. He’d no sooner put it away than two more flew past him, slamming up against the counter. He glared around the shop. “Stop it right now. It’s three days before Christmas, and I’ve had a really long day. I’m not in the mood for your shenanigans.” Normally he would have pondered  how wonderful a word shenanigans was, but he was honestly too tired today.

Four books dive-bombed him from the very top shelf, knocking him around the head.

“Hey! That hurt!” He rubbed his head, hurrying to the sales counter.

He knew he had a ghost problem. There had been, in fact, a spirit living here since he’d first bought the place, and, he suspected, for a lot longer than that. But he thought they’d come to some sort of understanding where they both more or less left each other alone. Okay, so Mavis, as he’d decided to name his spirit, didn’t exactly leave him alone, but she’d knock books off the shelves, or ring the bell over the door, making him think there was a customer. One time Mavis had hidden all the Dickens books. He couldn’t find them anywhere. Then he ran across them, neatly stacked, in the back.

Deliberately knocking books on his head was not her style.

He opened the cash register and started counting out the money for deposit. He had a slip that went in with the deposit, while he retained the bottom copy for his records. He did the twenties and went back for the tens. The cash drawer closed so quickly it nearly caught his fingers.

“You really are in a mood today.” He took out the tens to count, and when he was done with those, he went back for the fives. Only to have the drawer slam closed again, this time catching two fingers on his right hand. That hurt hard enough he yanked his hand away and exclaimed out loud. “Ow!”

He glared at the shelves of books that littered the store, but none of them seemed inclined to move under his scrutiny. The place seemed as empty as usual.

He was nearly finished counting when books started flying around the place again. He had to duck, twice, and he hurried through the last of his evening routine. “I don’t know what your problem is, Mavis, but I don’t like it. I’m tired and I’ve worked really long hours and I just want a glass of merlot with my feet up.”

The keychains on the stand next to the cash register rattled vigorously enough that a whole bunch of the book-shaped pieces fell onto the floor with a terrible clang. More books winged narrowly past his head when he bent to pick them up. He decided he could clean in the morning.

Grabbing the deposit, he made a beeline for the door, ducking as more books flew at him. He got out the door and pulled it closed behind him. He locked it and was halfway down the block when he realized he’d left the lights on at the store. Rubbing his head, he decided it could wait. He didn’t know why his store spirit was suddenly so angry, but it seemed very clear to him that she was.

He made his deposit and headed home quickly, eager for that glass of wine. He knew he should probably stop somewhere to grab something to eat, but he also knew everywhere was going to be packed and, honestly, he wasn’t that hungry. He was just exhausted and knew he needed to head to bed fairly soon. Not to mention his head hurt from being pummeled by books.

If Mavis kept it up tomorrow, he was going to have to close the store rather than risk customers getting hurt. He really couldn’t afford to do that. He would easily make tomorrow what he usually did on a decent week any other time of the year.

Sighing as he found himself at home, he let himself in. An aspirin for his head, a glass of merlot for his spirit, and then bed for his body. It was a plan.

Smutty Advent - Day 3

This is a little extra that I included in my Christmas cards last year. If you'd like a card this year - please email me your snail mail address to seanmichaelwrites @ gmail . com (no spaces).

Elf in The Box

Jingle sat in the penalty box, his arms curled around his knees, the tips of his ears freeing. He was ticked off at Garland, but mostly he was ticked off at himself. He was the one who’d followed Garland into trouble. He’d known they were likely to get caught.

A knock startled him out of his cold thoughts and he looked up to see Garland’s face at the little window. Then his fellow elf slipped in. “Jingle! Oh, I’m so sorry. I didn’t know you’d pick the box as your punishment.”

“You mean as opposed to getting spanked by Santa?”

“Uh-huh. I thought you were like me and enjoyed a little spanking.” Garland wriggled and Jingle knew he’d taken the spanking and already had it delivered.

“Oh, no, Santa’s like my dad and that would be really awkward.”

Garland started laughing and Jingle glared. His friend could be so mean.

“Sorry, but that’s public Santa – he doesn’t do the spankings. Buff Santa does.”

“What Santa?”

“Buff Santa.” Garland waggled his eyebrows up and down suggestively. “You want me to tell them you’ve changed your mind about which punishment you want?” Garland leaned in to whisper. “His hand is huge and he totally knows what he’s doing with it. His thighs are thick and hairy, and he presses your cock between them as he spanks you. And he spanks you until you come. Then he kisses you and you feel like he knows how to give you everything you ever wanted.”

“Oh.” Jingle’s heart thumped quickly, his cock going hard. “I’d like to change my punishment, please.”

“I’ll let them know.” Garland bounced off, pert butt swaying the whole way.

Jingle wished he had a butt like Garland’s. Because that was a most spankable ass.

The door opened again and a beautiful stud of a man with a trim beard and short hair stepped in. Oh. Jingle had been mooning over him since he’d first seen the guy at the workshop. The bright blue gaze found his. “Jingle.”

He nodded and the guy held out his hand. “I’m Santa. Come with me for your spanking.”

A tingle went through him as he took Santa’s hand, and that made him shiver in anticipation.

“I was hoping I’d get to have you over my lap,” Santa told him.

“Me?”

“That’s right. I knew the moment I first saw you that I wanted you. And not just for a punishment.”
Jingle’s ears began to tingle and it had nothing to do with the cold. He was going to have to steal cookies more often.

Smutty Advent - Day 2

This short Christmas story also features former lovers who are currently apart, just like Unto Us the Time Has Come. It's a fairly different story, though - their HEA comes about in an entirely different manner!

For a chance to win a copy of The Perfect Gift, leave a comment on this post.

The Perfect Gift

Harrison isn't feeling the Christmas Spirit, but his new lover claims to have the perfect gift for him. Harrison is sceptical, but he's willing to go along for the ride.

Will there be some Christmas Magic in his stocking this year?

Available at Changeling Press.

Excerpt:

Chapter One

Harrison glared at all the sparkly lights on the houses, all the decorations in the yards, all the snow everywhere. “Bah fucking humbug.”

He tried not to think about last year in the silly house that was goofy and a little shabby chic and utterly delightful and filled with love. He also tried not to think about the stupid, pointless argument that had lost him all of that.

“Harrison, lovely.” A slender arm wrapped around his waist, Rick giving him a side hug he could barely feel through layers of winter clothing. “It’s Christmas.”

He looked down at the gamin face, the bright emerald eyes, and tried to find a smile for his new lover, which was, of course, when he fell right over Ollie’s leash, landing in a pile of snow. He supposed it could have been worse -- he could have fallen the other way and landed on the pavement, or the snow could have been slush and soaked him through immediately. Still, not at all pleasant, the wind knocked out of him, the snow finding his collar and freezing his neck. His huge St. Bernard pushed right up over him, staring at him, so concerned.

“Harrison!” Rick fluttered, hovering and looking worried.

Ollie licked his face, drooling all over him. Great. Just great.

“I’m fine. Let’s just go home.” Why was he out walking the big lug again anyway?

Oh, right, because if he didn’t, Ollie would pee all over the damn house and fill the tiny back yard with shit. Literally. Asshole dog.

Said asshole dog licked him, slobber coating his face, and he rolled his eyes. “Okay. Okay, I’m getting up. Turkey.”

Rick helped brush the snow off his coat. “Let’s get you home for a nice cup of cocoa.”

“Thanks, Rick. Sorry. I’m just in a shitty mood, I guess.” A terrible mood if he was honest, and it wasn’t Rick’s fault. Or Ollie’s either.

“A mug of my magical cocoa will fix you right up. So will our meal at La Cuisine Rouge later this evening.” Rick put his hand around Harrison’s elbow and turned them back toward home.

“I’m sure it will. You make the best cocoa ever. I’m not sure what you do to it, but damn.”

“Magical fairy dust.” Rick batted his eyelashes.

“Please don’t be telling me you come in my cocoa.”

Rick laughed, the sound bright and tinkling. And so different from the laughter that had filled his life a year ago. God, he hated Christmas.

Still, he smiled, didn’t he? Rick deserved better than him mooning over what used to be. Harrison took Rick’s hand. “Come on, honey. Home  .”

Ollie heard the word home and zoomed, tugging him and Rick along. Goddamn horse of a dog. Harrison loved him dearly.

You'll have to read the book for Harrison's HEA!

Smutty Advent - Day 1 excerpt and contest

I'd really like to do Smutty Advent this year - I've done it most years in some way since LiveJournal times (so you know, ancient history). I'm already a day late, but nonetheless, here we are, the first Smutty Advent post!

I'm going to start off with Unto Us the Time Has Come from a couple of Christmases ago. This one was so hard to write, because the family is broken at the beginning of the book and there was angst to write and I hate writing the angst. Of course because of that, this one wrote up really quickly because I had to get them through it as quickly as I could!

There is an excerpt below and if you leave a comment I will draw a winner on the weekend chosen randomly from the comments.

Unto Us the Time Has Come

Last Christmas, Kenn Greyson gave husband Chris Martenson an ultimatum—spend more time with the family or we’re leaving. He never expected Chris’s reply would be “then leave,” but that’s exactly what happened, and Boxing Day took on a whole new meaning.

Separated for nearly a year now, both men are miserable apart and coping the best they can for the kids’ sake. With Christmas just around the corner, a new conflict arises: neither man is willing to forego Christmas morning with their children. Chris finally suggests they spend the holiday together at the house and, to his shock, Kenn agrees.

Armed with the knowledge that he’s been a stubborn idiot, but that perhaps he can change and begin to repair their relationship, Chris takes steps to win his husband back. He just hopes he can get Kenn on the same page before Santa comes down the chimney on Christmas Eve.

Chapter Two

Chris took a sip of his double-double and glanced at his watch. Kenn was late, goddamn  it. He only had a half-hour window before he had to head uptown for a working dinner with the CEO of Leonard Dynamics . And if he sat here for too long without anything to do, he was going to fall asleep right where he was. God, he was tired. Without Kenn and the kids, there was no reason to go home, and he’d been practically living in the office the last year.

He grabbed his phone out of his pocket and began making speaking notes for the Drumheller  meeting tomorrow. Or possibly the day after tomorrow; he couldn’t remember. It would be in his diary. Anita kept it scrupulously up-to-date.

The door flew open, and Kenn rushed in, covered in snow. “Hey, Jules. No. Just a drip. Yeah, I’m on the schedule for every day this week.”

Even in the heavy coat and accoutrements, Kenn looked like the guy Chris had met in university  —skinny, bald, eyes huge and bright, bright green.

“Sorry. Sarah’s dance teacher was running late.” Kenn sat, coffee in hand. “Micah’s at his skating lessons.”

“It’s fine. I have to go at five sharp, though.” It would take him a half hour to get to the restaurant, if he was lucky. Between the weather and the proximity to Christmas, rush-hour traffic was going to be a bitch.

Chris   tried not to think too hard about how sexy Kenn looked, about how he still loved the stubborn asshole. Or about how much he wanted to get rid of those bags under Kenn’s eyes, the tense set of his shoulders. It wasn’t right. Kenn was supposed to be making art and looking after their babies. Chris was supposed to make sure they had the money for that to happen. Why couldn’t Kenn have understood he had to work hard to provide for everything they needed? From a roof over their heads to the best ballet shoes money could buy to a nice fat nest egg for the kids’ schooling.

“I won’t keep you. I was thinking, if you want, you can have them the week before Christmas and I can have them late Christmas Eve? Your folks like to do Christmas Eve.”

The whole week before Christmas? What the hell was that? “I want them Christmas morning. I hardly ever see them. I want to be there when they open their gifts.”

“And I am the one who’s dealt with all the details. I want to see them open the gifts from Santa,” Kenn insisted.

“And what exactly am I supposed to do with them the week before Christmas? Bring them to work with me?” He was avoiding the question of Christmas morning because he wasn’t in the mood for a screaming match in the middle of the coffee shop. He wasn’t budging on getting to see the kids open their gifts either, though.

“You have almost ten weeks of leave built up. Take it.” Kenn looked furious now, not to mention utterly knackered. “I will lose both my jobs if I miss a day that week.”

Two jobs. His fucking creative artist was working two jobs. It wasn’t like he wasn’t helping with the kids, because he was. His money had to stretch to two households now, though, and all their extracurriculars . Plus he needed to keep feeding the university fund.

He sighed. “Fine. I’ll juggle some stuff and take them the week before Christmas. I’ll bring them home Christmas Day at noon.” That seemed fair to him.

Kenn’s face fell, and he saw those amazing eyes shimmer, then Kenn shook his head. “I want them Christmas morning. That’s special to me.”

“You think it isn’t special to me?”

Did Kenn really think he didn’t give a shit for the kids? For Kenn himself? This separation was not his idea. Shit, he’d been calling Kenn’s bluff when he’d said, “Then leave.” He’d never for a moment thought Kenn actually would.

“You mean if someone doesn’t call you in to work?” Kenn shot back at him.

“That was an emergency.” If the company had lost that overseas contract, he’d have been out of a job. Then where would they have been?

“There’s always an emergency. There’s always a trip or a phone call, or anything or anyone that will keep you from having to deal with us.”

“Or keep me from losing my fucking job. Did that ever occur to you? That if I hadn’t left that night to deal with the shit hitting the fan, I would have been in the unemployment line?”

Jesus, they didn’t even live together anymore and it was the same fucking argument.

“Yeah. Yeah, I hear you. It’s tough to be that important to someone, for everyone to need you.” Kenn didn’t sound like he was being sarcastic at all.

Chris just stared for a moment, then looked at his watch. He downed his coffee. “I have to get moving. I’ll take them on Friday night, keep them for the week, and bring them back Christmas Day at eleven.” Look at him, giving in by an hour.

“Christmas Eve at ten p.m.”

He shook his head. No way. “Christmas Day, ten a.m.” The kids were going to be up at the crack of dawn anyway.

“Bring them in the car late, then. Midnight.”

“That’s not fair to them. Nine a.m., but that’s my final offer—I’m giving up Christmas breakfast with them for that.” That was one of their traditions. Stockings at the end of their beds, Santa’s gifts when Daddy and Da were up, then breakfast before they unwrapped the rest of the gifts. That’s how they’d done it every year since they’d adopted the kids—Micah just three, his baby sister newly born.

Kenn’s shoulders dropped, his face falling. “I hate this.”

“And I don’t? Tell you what. You hate it so much, you come back to the house Christmas Eve and we both get them in the morning,” Chris suggested. Like Kenn would agree to that. Not his stubborn butthead of an almost ex-husband.

“Okay. That works for me.”

Wait. What?

Chris blinked a few times, but there was no damn way he was backing down. “Good, that’s settled. I have to go.”

“Bye.”

He got up and grabbed his briefcase, heading off before he could say anything else moronic. What had he just gotten himself into?

Movie Monday

I went to see Robin Hood yesterday. I had heard people loved it and that other people hated it. So I went in without any real pre-conceptions. I must say that I enjoyed it for what it was - a fun romp with some.... somewhat familiar characters.

I'll
leave
some
space
for
spoilers

It's not the Robin Hood we know and love, and there's tons of anacronisms, but if you can deal with that and let go of historical accuracy and the legend, then you'll enjoy this one, too.

I do have to admit that I nearly laughed out loud when Marian asks Robin "If not you, who? If not now, when?"

Jamie Foxx was great as Jon, and his character was my favorite in this movie. I do admit to some sadness for how they dealt with Will, but once I reminded myself to let go of the original story the movie is based on, I appreciated what they did with him in the end.

It`s very two dimentional as far as characterization goes - bad guys bad, good guys good, but that works for the kind of movie this was. While I do enjoy my bad guys with some redeeming characteristics, I know most movies tend to paint with very broad brushstrokes so that you really hate the bad guy and thoroughly enjoy his comeuppance.

Top Ten Tuesday - Halloweenpalooza Edition

Last week's scary movie list made me think of one of my favorite 'scary' type movie. That would be zombies! I do enjoy a zombie movie. I decided to include TV shows, too because of the two walking dead shows.

Top Ten Favorite Zombie Movies (and TV shows)

10. Resident Evil. I wanted these to be better than they were, but I still like the movies.
9. I am Legend. I wanted this one to be better, too because it had so much potential.
8. Z Nation. I'm a couple seasons behind, but this is a bizarre show and I love the half-zombie character.
7. Fear the Walking Dead. The heroin addicted son is my absolute favorite part of this show - he's so much a zombie himself right at the beginning
6. The Walking Dead. I watched faithfully, along with the Talking Dead until the season opener with Neegan and his bat. I made it all the way through that episode but haven't been able to go back.
5. Black Sheep. This movie is bizarre and I love it because of that. Zombie sheep - I mean really, that's all I needed to say, right?
4. World War Z. I have heard the book is even better, though I have not read it.
3. I Zombie. I love the humor. I love the premise. I love the way the bad guy shifts back and forth.
2. Shaun of the Dead. Again, humor with the horror. This is such a great movie.
1. Warm Bodies. OMG, a zombie movie that's a love story - with the Zombie as one of the couple! That's after my own heart.
